Portfolio and Portfolio Checkup: |
Throughout the semester you will have to do different things related to building your portfolio. One of the main goals for this class is to have a completed portfolio by the end of the class. |
Project and Project Checkup: |
We
will work on one real world hands on project during the semester. It will have to be related to your program of study. Here are a few examples for
different areas. A web student might design a website for a local business with a database connection and a control panel. A Computer Information Technology student might create a Visual BASIC application that connects to a database. A Networking student might setup a network for a local business. As you can see by the weight of this portion, this is a major part of your overall grade. If you are completing a co-op at the same time as this class, you might be able to use it as your project. We can discuss it via email. |
| Presentation: |
You will
have to present your whole portfolio and project at the end of the semester. We will all come together for one day at the end to look at your work. |
Weekly Discussion Boards: |
Each
student will be required to reply to a prompt that I post in the discussion board each week. The prompt will be related to some new technology. You will also have to reply to at least two of your classmates replies. All of your replies must be in a paragraph format and at least four sentences long. They must be thought out and without spelling errors. I will count off if you don't follow these guidelines. |
Withdrawal Date and Procedure: |
The
last day to withdraw from this class is Monday, April 5. To initiate
this procedure, you must talk to your advisor about withdrawing before
this date. |
Academic Integrity Statement: |
Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty
are prohibited. In addition to other possible disciplinary sanctions, which
may be imposed through the regular institutional procedures as a result
of academic misconduct, your instructor will assign an "F" for
the exercise or examination that evidences academic misconduct for the first
offense and assign an "F" for the course for repeated offenses. |
