Course Description: |
This course introduces database design and creation using a DBMS product. Emphasis is placed on data dictionaries, normalization, data integrity, data modeling, and creation of simple tables, queries, reports, and forms. Upon completion, students should be able to design and implement normalized database structures by creating simple database tables, queries, reports, and forms.

There will be four exams during the
semester. |
Articles: |
Each
student will be required to email me a
current database article with a typed summary
of the article. The typed summary
must be at least 1/2 a page in length and
saved as a Word document (.doc) or as Rich Text Format (.rtf). The article can be out
of magazines, newspapers, or off the Internet.
You will have one article due each month
starting with September. The dates are:
September
12, October 3, November 7 and December
5. |
Withdrawal Date and Procedure: |
The
last day to withdraw from this class is Tuesday, November 4. To initiate
this procedure, you must talk to your advisor about withdrawing before
this date. |

This course is web-centered (fully online). Assignments are completed online
either at home or on campus. Be sure to check this course on the website often
for announcements and upcoming assignments. Check your email often as well.

Tests will be administered online. Grades for tests immediately via Blackboard. |
