CIS 110 Research Paper (Part of Semester Project)For this research paper you will have a few topics that you can choose from. You will need to follow the guidelines outlined on the Grading Scale page. The research paper must be at least three pages long, not including the title page and the Works Cited page. After you complete your research paper, I would strongly recommend that you take it to the Learning Assistant Center to have them look over the paper. They can also assist with how to do a Works Cited and a Title page. I will give 5 points extra credit on this research paper if you bring a piece of paper back to me that is signed by someone in the LAC telling me that you had your paper reviewed by them. You will also be required to submit your paper to Turnitin.com. This paper will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, October 15. I encourage you to submit the paper to Turnitin.com at least a week ahead of time. This will allow you to fix any areas that might be interpreted as plagiarism. If you turn in the Research Paper late, there will be a 20 point deduction for each class day the paper is late. I have listed a few topics below. Make sure that you find a topic that can be discussed in three pages. Most people end up doing their paper on how technology is used in the field you are going into. Remember that your research paper will be the topic for your PowerPoint also. |
Topic 1 Do research on some type of wireless device(s) and tell us how it has helped
and/or hindered the field that you are going into. The wireless device
could be a PDA, laptop computer, etc. You do not have to limit yourself
to one device. There might be multiple devices that are used in your field. Topic 2 Look at different types of computer devices and decide on what type of device could help people in the field that you are going into. You can look at devices that people in our local area do not have, but would really benefit from. Some larger cities might have the device. In your paper discuss why this device is important and why it might not be adopted. You can also develop an implementation plan for how it could be implemented locally.
This topic will be a self selected topic. It has to be computer related. You can select the topic and it must meet my approval. |
